Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider

Playing around in modo with a Lancia model I found.  Tweaking the shaders that didn’t really make it over intact in format conversion has taken most of the time and effort.  The scale on this one is huge, in the kilometers.  It needs to be dropped about 1000:1 to size up properly with the mainstream scales.

Nouveau sconce

A sconce that caught my eye.  It took a few minutes to balance the transparency, light source, and luminosity properly in modo, but the effect was worth it.

Missed adding this a few days ago.  Yet another lathe, texture based in ArtMatic.  Placemat texture is an oldie from my Serape package, over in the download section.


Heading to Elgin tomorrow for the weekend.  Multiple birthday party at the Mathews.

Took the old Dawn shader render and ran it through one of the sketcher apps.  Showed it online and got a suggestion that a colored pencil technique might work.  Here is what resulted.

Got hold of a bed collection.  Lots of linen to play with, sheets, quilts, comforters, etc.  Lots of displacement maps for future use…..

Killing time in modo.  A skyscraper and a tile, among a bunch of other similar stuff.  I sort of feel these two belong in the same render, the tower sitting in the circle in the tile.

Dawn has been out for four days, and I’ve been able to work on the figure for about half a day. The first step is import Dawn from Poser into modo and adjust the shaders for future reference.  Here’s a zeroed Dawn, in default mode upon import, and with the shaders adjusted.


I’ll be moving around the next few days, so I probably won’t get much chance to work on the figure for a while.  I have to go into Austin this evening to get my meds refilled.

HDRI test

A simple copper mirrored capsule (pill) which has an advantage of reflecting a scene for 180° in two axes with minimal distortion.  It makes a good lens cover in scifi modeling for that reason.  Hence, the use for the test.


HDRI spherical (2X1-360X180), control room.  Loaded into environment and GI applied.

Been going over things in modo that I haven’t done in a while, getting myself back to speed.  I created this fur in 12 minutes, which counts for Photoshop too.  I rather like it. A nice break from delving into HDR Light Studio interfacing with modo.

Got 58 freebie plants from xfrog, and felt the need to do something with them, and I have been making vases……  Amaryllis and ginger.

Woke up this morning and I had to make another one, a round vase.  Not sure why.  Again, everything is from scratch.

Okay, this is the last one for now.  A classic vase design with a stone shader from Photoshop.  By the way, the cracks came from lightning brushes.  As always in this series, everything from scratch.

Started playing with maps in Photoshop.  This one has diffusion, specularity, and bump maps.  I wouldn’t mind having a set of these.  In modo, of course.
