mixed busy
Posted on Friday, February 9th, 2018 at 8:20 pmBack on Vince’s site today. Looking at two or three more days. Today was mostly the big picture, creating new pages, placing widgets, etc, but also a few details, and more expected tonight.
.
Went to Bryan yesterday for a follow-up with the ophthalmologist. My vision, especially in my left eye has improved markedly. The incision has healed quite well, nothing but a pretty report. No more appointments for a year. All the rest of the medical appointments will be local.
.
Was busy in the kitchen today. Chicken/broccoli/rice was lunch. I wanted to clean out the kitchen this morning before I took the garbage to the curb, so I was busy. Tenderized and marinated sirloin just came out of the broiler. (Yum. I am getting addicted to this.) And I just cooked up a batch of spuds for mashed potatoes, which I haven’t made in ages. They will go well with the sirloin.

Posted on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at 11:29 pmI generally don’t stoop to photographing bluebonnets to avoid being in the same class of photographers who pull off on the side of the road and have their kids sit in the wildflowers for a photo op. It’s considered rather gauche in serious photographer circles. (Unless there is a paycheck in it.) So this is rather tongue in cheek.
.
No bluebonnets were crushed during this photo op.

Posted on Monday, August 22nd, 2016 at 6:14 amWell, the hard drives are all in order like ducks in a row, three 4TB USB 3.0 externals and the 500G Firewire system clone/catch all. The backup drive still has the old folder order, but the backup files are all there, just needing a little shifting.
.
The desk has more room with two drives removed, making Myka happy. That is not likely to last long, with the Mac Air addition expected this week or next.

I am trying to get the Esther’s photos retouched. Eight have been completed and uploaded. Almost halfway there. My eyes are a little sore, but I did a pretty good job on the first ones. One or two more days of Photoshop and I’ll have the existing scans delivered, internet willing.
.
Looks like the rain is finally drying out. Temps will be returning to the low 90’s for summer’s finale. Forecast is not calling for any more upper 90’s. Not complaining.

Posted on Monday, July 25th, 2016 at 11:34 pmBeen giving the new 35 mm film scanner its first heavy assignment. Some of the film has damaged emulsion, not real bad, but a Photoshop retouching nightmare. Not all are bad and some will have quality image alternatives. But it adds up to extra time.
.
Anyway, I found the original 4X5 copy negative of the Ratchett and Rose photogram, and I shot it with the Nikon at 14Mp, then subjected it to all sorts of Photoshop, and it came out rather well. Not quite the original, being digital, but good enough for printing.
.
And I fond a few photos of me in my late 20’s up to 30. This one was taken by Jeanne Baxter at 29, upon a return trip to visit Austin. This was the look that won me second place in a Halloween contest for “coming as myself and having no one recognize me”.

Posted on Thursday, May 19th, 2016 at 5:26 pmOven roasted a rack of pork baby back ribs and a pork tenderloin, both from the freezer. The rain storm that meandered across the area kept temps in the low 60’s for the day, so it was a perfect day for heating up the kitchen. That is good stuff… They came out just right; tender, juicy, and delish!

Posted on Friday, October 30th, 2015 at 6:45 pmPatty
Posted on Tuesday, October 27th, 2015 at 1:34 pmToday was clean up after the remnants of Patricia day. It’s still too wet to rake the few fall leaves, but dry enough to blow and sweep the porches, decks, and brick walks.
.
One of the victims of the 6 inches (16 cm) of rain was Myka’s grass dish. Being a catch tray, it has no drainage other than a 90° tilt. The grass is still alive, but none of it is standing upright. A poor sight indeed. When it dries, I’ll give it a haircut and maybe throw on some more seed in the bald spot Myka made digging. Then again, I just may let it go and try some winter rye in the yard’s bald spots for the coming season.

DXG
Posted on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 at 11:23 amI pulled the DXG vidcam out of the suitcase and am charging the neglected batteries. I checked on flash disks, and I’m amazed at how cheap they’ve gotten.
.
Shot a short vid of Myka watching a squirrel outside the window. The only action was her tail.
