Photo sketch layering

Posted on Friday, September 27th, 2013 at 10:40 am

This is creative layering of several uSketch layers over the original photo in Photoshop.  It makes the shadow clipping work in its favor, rather than letting it take over completely.

Missed adding this a few days ago.  Yet another lathe, texture based in ArtMatic.  Placemat texture is an oldie from my Serape package, over in the download section.

Heading to Elgin tomorrow for the weekend.  Multiple birthday party at the Mathews.

Took the old Dawn shader render and ran it through one of the sketcher apps.  Showed it online and got a suggestion that a colored pencil technique might work.  Here is what resulted.

iOS 7

Downloading iOS 7 for the iPad.  Not sure how it will affect things, but it made for a rash of updates, and I had to toss some software to make room for the installer.  But I can always recover it once the new system is installed.  What I read about the system sounds good, I just hope it doesn’t mess up some of the structure I’ve worked pretty hard to achieve.  I’ll know in a little over a quarter hour.

I’ve been having trouble getting a blue texture that I like, but I think that I got it this time.

I have been aware that I haven’t taken any photos in well over a month.  I corrected that today.

Annie, my new friend.

I succumbed to another piece of pottery.

The bed package that I got has been delightful to play with in modo.  At least they’ve been more fun than my real life bed as of late.

More puppies

Another fuzzy friend has joined the pack, checking out short level fur in modo 7.

Got hold of a bed collection.  Lots of linen to play with, sheets, quilts, comforters, etc.  Lots of displacement maps for future use…..

The robot Josef from the game Machinarium.  Found him online today.

Killing time in modo.  A skyscraper and a tile, among a bunch of other similar stuff.  I sort of feel these two belong in the same render, the tower sitting in the circle in the tile.

Farewell to freebies, again.

Well, I have to admit that I didn’t exactly flaunt the release of the neon sign, and it is limited to the one site because of the nature of the sign.  But still, 3 downloads in 52 hours is not enough interest to keep me tied to the torturous conversion process.  My return was brief and not exactly what I’d call overtly rewarding.

I’m not saying that no one was appreciative, there were thanks, and I appreciated them.  But if people aren’t going to even download the items I make, then what’s the use?  I don’t need the stress of making stuff that works great in modo to fit into Poser properly.  The problems I’m having with the graphics card and the new Poser Pros in this processor just isn’t worth the aggravation.  I honestly don’t want to launch them, even with wireframe preview.

So I’m calling it quits again.  It was a good reminder why I quit in the first place, back when I started this blog.  modo is sufficient for me.

But you don’t get french fries.

I made this with four verts and the resulting NURBs and a radial array.  Bang, bang, bang.

The title comes from Strong Bad/music by They Might Be Giants.

I am reminded why I quit making stuff for Poser.  It is a pain.

But I got the neon sign out today as a pp2.  I’m not sure if I’ll be tempted to make any more.

Neon buzzing…..

Tom Waits, The Heart of Saturday Night.

“So tell me, is it the crack of the pool balls, neon buzzing?”

Luminescence in the shader.  No lights used in the scene, just the glow of the “neon”.

For HiveWire3D.

the buzz.
