Bathroom sink

Posted on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 at 11:16 pm

Playing with modo 8.0.1 and MeshFusion.  Made a modern bathroom sink, sans the drain at this point.  Learning curve is going to be the end of me.

modo 8

Posted on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 at 1:26 pm

Well, modo 8.0.1 was released, and I couldn’t resist the upgrade.  I have downloaded everything, including MeshFusion, but I haven’t installed it yet.  I don’t have time for that today.  Maybe this evening.  I was excited, but now I realize, it’s just more learning curve, and I haven’t gotten everything in 7 down yet.  Oh well…. hehehe

Japan’s Secrecy Law

You better not shout, you better not spy, you better not doubt, and we all know why.
Shinzo Abe is sending you to jail.
He’s making a list, assigning a sleuth, he’s gonna find out if you’re telling the truth.
Shinzo Abe is sending you to jail.

He peeps you when you’re weeping, he won’t give you a break.
Your writing he’ll be bleeping, so just lie for goodness sake…

Easter

Posted on Sunday, April 20th, 2014 at 12:15 pm

Easter morning is vanishing quickly, one minute left of it here.  It is a pretty day, sunny, 75° as it turns noon.  A perfect day for egg hunting.  And I’m being lazy, a couple of crossword puzzles, reading online, playing slow video games.  Nothing to show for today’s waking hours.  No graphics, no music, no business, no cooking, no shopping….

.

Just in a lazy mood this morning.  I guess it comes from actually feeling good for a few days.  Well, that and it’s Easter.  I guess it’s been a day of spring fever for me, a time to lay low and let the world around me have its day without me as a distraction.

.

I may break down and make jambalaya today.  Ham, chicken, sausage, and shrimp.  That should handle any appetite I raise today.

Easter Eve

Feeling pretty good overall.  Still bloated with abdomen fluid retention.  But otherwise I’m feeling pretty good.  I’m able to start exercising to certain degrees without the heart getting skittish.

.

I found an audio track with a binaural beat that lowers blood pressure for a while.  It takes five (minimum) to fifteen (maximum) minutes of playtime to have an effect.  But it works, causing a resonance in the brain patterns that drops pressure.  I’m surprised at how well it works.

.

I also uncovered some acupressure tips on lowering pressure.  It’s not as effective as the audio, but it’s more convenient.  And of course, there is always the fingertip pressure for relaxing the entire brain.

.

And I’ve gotten pretty good at lowering it myself mentally.

.

But this is all on a spot basis.  It’s not a 24/7 management system.  I may enroll in the clinic here.

Settling

Posted on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 at 6:41 pm

I’ve had time to settle back in from the Austin run.  I’ve done some plumbing, replacing the kitchen drain and toilet fill valve.  I’ve done my fair share of cooking, sloppy joes, eggs ackley, split pea soup, and more.  I have been eating well and staying within budget.  But I go to the store for light loads two, three times a week.  Ah, life in the city.

.

It’s warming, though we had a late cold snap this week.  It brushed the 30’s for a couple of nights, but the wild flowers handled it well.   Most of the time has been short sleeves and open doors.

.

Took me awhile and had to go through a number of movies before I could get back to 3D.  But I did get modo crackin’ again.

Bloonts

Posted on Sunday, April 6th, 2014 at 7:29 am

Back in Brenham again.  Austin was fun and profitable and restful. I enjoyed my stay.

.

But it’s good to have my phone again.  The spare phone took my card, but I need to re-up my images and ringtones to my site again.  Those were stored on the phone, not the card.  And the address book was a culmination of the two, so I had to cull the dupes and excess.

.

The wild flowers are good this year.  It’s not the best year in my memory, but still quite impressive.  I saw blue bonnets, paint brushes, wine cups, phlox, primrose, and more.  It was definitely an eye pleasing journey home.

.

Along with the wild flowers were the tourists.  I saw grannies directing the poses of their grandkids sitting in the patches of blue.  I also got to see the downtown Brenham chaos.  The scent of tourist dollars was thick.  Another place to avoid on weekends.  It’s sort of like Montgomery during Renaissance Festival, stay in on weekends, business as usual on weekdays.

.

I found that the oil pan plug on the pickup is dripping slowly.  The guy who changed the oil noted that it was a little loose fitting, so I need to talk to Doug about it.  I also need to get a quart of oil next trip to the store.

.

I have a short shopping list.  I have popped the insulation on the iPad cord.  Being also for iPhone, there are plenty of inexpensive alternatives.  Financially, I’m doing fairly well at the moment.  The Lone Star card helps, and it’s set for installments through August.

.

I need to register for medical care here in Brenham at the public clinic.  My blood pressure isn’t going down as much as I’d like.  That’s the one negative this spring, but it’s one with which I can live.  I don’t look forward to going back on meds, but I don’t think there’s a way around it, at least not yet.

Winding down in Austin

Posted on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 at 5:28 pm

In three days, I’ll be back in Brenham.  I’ve been here for nine days, but not by myself.  At first, it was Eric and Alicia, then it was Jake.  But the next two and a half days, I’ll be here solo, until Saturday morning when Eric and Alicia get back from Hawaii.

.

I burned 43 DVDs on Sunday and Monday.  Boring, but it’s nice to get the 200G on disc.  Freed up a nice chunk of hard drive space.  Not that I’m hurting for space, I still have better than 1.5T available.

.

It’s been fun seeing the Tootoo girls.  They’ve been very loving and playful.  It will take some adjustment shifting back to miniature schnauzers at 10% of the mass.

.

I hate to say it, but I look forward to getting the replacement cell phone.  I miss the phone book more than anything else.
