Westward ho!

Posted on Tuesday, August 26th, 2014 at 12:55 pm

Looks like I’m bound for Austin tomorrow.  The slow process of packing starts this afternoon, one box at a time to the staging area.

.

An attempt to return to medication stalled out until my return.  At least the heat will be avoidable, and there will be hot water for foot baths to bring the pressure down.  I don’t like the way my pressure is staying elevated recently, but I can keep a lid on it for a couple of more weeks.

Myka will get her first chance to hang at the other house this evening.

Digging for quote sources…

Posted on Friday, August 22nd, 2014 at 10:32 am

I can’t remember the source of the following quote, nor can I find it online.  Argh!

.

“I have determined that you are a bad influence.  I like that in a person.”

Lost internet and cellphone connections today.  Bleh!  Fortunately, the internet is back.  Not sure what happened to to the cellphone tower.

.

Lake Sommerville turned over, and the local water is blech!  So is the ice.  Need to buy a couple of gallons of drinking water, if I can find any.

Unplugged and replugged the battery on the phone, and I have five bars and 3G.

.

Using cold water from the fridge (before the turnover) to feed the ice trays.  Avoided the store for bread and water.

.

Myka goes for shots early next week.  One week to lift off for Austin.

.

Played a few sweet tunes tonight that I haven’t played in quite some time.  Felt good.

Been dealing with blood pressure issues since yesterday.  Internet issues too.  Not a good combination.  At least Myka has been considerate, except when it comes to slipping outside.  I’m handling all three, but it sure eats time and saps energy.

Need to trim my fingernails.  Too many typos on the right side of the keyboard.

Viral

Posted on Monday, August 11th, 2014 at 5:48 pm

I am sometimes awed at viral  waves across the internet.  Then again, sometimes they demonstrate just how few of us are truly educated or anywhere near it.

.

Case in point, on August 5th, a GIF was released by @cjzero (CJ Fogler), his handle layered on the print frames.  The sequence showed a young woman at an Arizona Diamondbacks game, talking to her boyfriend and showing a marked reaction.  CJ claimed that he had no idea what was going on with her.  If you can’t find it, then you don’t understand viral and meme.  If you find it once, photo search it on Google images to see how it’s spread.  I don’t blame anyone for not trying.

.

For anyone who has witnessed a seizure in progress, the symptoms are unmistakable, face, neck, left arm.  About six or seven out of some four hundred replies that I saw  recognized it and made note.  But they were largely ignored, with most of the comments relating to vibrating panties, flatulence, diarrhea (usually misspelled), turn on/turn off instant switch, cleavage in the background, and all sorts of argument and sexist innuendos, few displaying even the slightest level of intelligence.

.

Sometimes, I do worry.  Then again, it keeps them out of trouble, hopefully, for a short while.

Myka 1930’s Painting

Cut my hair today.  Not bad for a single mirror and a laptop camera.  The Wiss scissors did an excellent job.

Move forward

Posted on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at 8:32 pm

Time to take care of finances.  All the holds have passed.  Let the checks fly.

.

I may have seen my last modo tutorial.  Nothing I didn’t understand, but the level of familiarity with the rapid fire tools was numbing.  Yeah, sure, it was all done and edited and rehearsed to make it look that smooth.  But still…..  I am not that into modo this summer, thanks to ms claws.  The level of familiarity, you have to do it to gain it.  And I’ve barely been keeping my thumb in it this summer.  I may have to throw in the towel on mastering it all and accept what I’ve learned so far.  That ain’t chump change, so maybe I’ll let the future of modo go to younger dogs and do what I do.  We’ll see…..

.

Sleep is not steady.  Shift in comfort hours during the height of August, staying up later, sleeping in.  AC cools best at night, and it coasts into the afternoon, once it bottoms on the temp outside.  The vampire life.  I wish I could get a night’s sleep all at once.

.

18 days (give or take) to Austin.

Myka 1930’s

Myka on the iPad camera with a touch of Repix and Photoshop, sepia and other effects.  She looks so innocent.
