The Rise and Fall of the Mynasten Dorito

Got the WIFI Extender locally today, will set it up in a bit. That’s the last of the major expenditures for the time being. Myka got her follow up booster shots yesterday. Next month’s major expenses are less than $400, which includes the spaying (postponed), a lot cheaper than September has been.
Forward
Posted on Monday, September 22nd, 2014 at 10:03 pmWell, the delay on replacing the truck battery will finally see the end of the delay in my schedule tomorrow. It cost me five and a half days, counting weekend and closed on Mondays. Ugh! It caused me to miss getting meds during this slot.
.
Myka goes in for spaying, hopefully tomorrow, so that she can recover before I head to Austin this coming Sunday. She will not be happy going back to the clinic.

Low 90’s giving way to upper 80’s. 30 minutes to equinox. Happy Mabon.
iOS 8
Posted on Friday, September 19th, 2014 at 10:11 amWatching the progress bar move very slowly beneath the Apple logo on the iPad. Instead of deleting a bunch of apps to give 5.7G of empty space, I deleted my music library, which can be recovered much more quickly from the laptop. I’ll need to see what to delete from the list to keep my 20% empty memory margin. At 200 songs per gig average, it could be quite a few. Once the installation finishes, I will have a lot of work turning off stuff I don’t want to use yet. And then there are all the freaking app updates for iOS 8 compatibility. It’s still creaking along. I started the download over an hour ago. Sure going to be a time eater.

Myka sure is enjoying the outdoors.
Battery blues
Posted on Thursday, September 18th, 2014 at 1:03 pmI thought I had a little margin financially, when the battery on the truck died….. So much for margins and priorities. I’ll catch up next month, I hope. Battery to be replaced this afternoon. Fortunately, I haven’t needed to go anywhere in any hurry.
.
Internet driving me to distraction. The rain has kept me from getting closer to the wifi. I need an extender, but finances are not clear enough to make the purchase. And the time before I go back to Austin not sufficient. I think I’ll wait until late October when I get back from Alicia’s and Doug’s.
.
Still need to make medical appointments for me and Myka. Me for hypertension meds, Myka for booster shots, spaying, and Advantage.
.
Myka is enjoying being outside. It suits her. The rain earlier hasn’t dampened her spirits.
Back again
Posted on Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 at 3:44 amIn Brenham again, Myka slowly getting used to being around me. It started with bites and avoidance, but she is slowly remembering the good things, the pets, the treats, the toys, and she is warming toward me, climbing in my lap and wanting pets. Still, we’ve had a few hissy moments. One thing hasn’t changed, she’s still a shadow.
.
I fell asleep early. Not sure when, but somewhere around 8 or 9 PM. It all caught up with me, and I flopped. I woke about 1:30 AM. But I’m back where the clock doesn’t matter that much. I can eat and fall asleep at my leisure.
.
I did return with sufficient funds to cover everything. I won’t have a lot left over, but I won’t be broke either. And more is coming in at the first of October. So I’m doing well. I need to get supplies for Myka, food, litter, treats, and stock up for myself. I have more than enough at the moment, but I could stand to have a few more options on the menu for the days ahead.
.
The second half of the visit to Austin was more active than the first half. More eating out (Morelia’s with Lyse today, yum). The visit to Elgin allowed me to get pruny in the pool, eat Stephen’s cooking, and have a good time with the crowd there. And there was the family party after Mary’s wedding (which is what held me over a second week). I made the most of the visit, which is why I fell asleep early. I enjoyed all the amenities and fine food and friends, but it’s nice to have my free time to be as lazy as I please.
.
I still need to finish unpacking the boxes. I got everything inside and the essentials set up. Not much left, mostly computer stuff and bathroom items. That will happen soon enough, but not until I sleep some more. One good thing, I can sleep with the door open now. Myka hangs around, but doesn’t crawl all over me, at least thus far. That could change.

Posted on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014 at 12:20 pmHalf way point in house sitting… Haven’t been out and about much since I hit town six days ago. Been making use of the internet and watching movies on TV. I haven’t been too active for the most part, lots of cat naps and generally catching up on sleep while I have central air. The too too girls have been pretty low key too, bracing the tail end of the summer heat in lazy hound style.
.
I am catching up on downloading from sites like Turbosquid, which I haven’t hit for over six months. It’s totaling gigs of stuff. Burning DVD backups comes in the next few days.
