Third day of air conditioning, the thermostat is calibrated, I’ve been catching up on my sleep in the last 48 hours.  Still not perky yet, but I am doing much better in these 100°F days.  Cooking and eating in a hot kitchen is much easier too, if I don’t have to remain in the heat.

Myka was enjoying the cool, but the closed door was too much for her, so she appreciates her limited indoor freedom more than the lack of heat and my company.  I have the teeth puncture wounds to show it, two rectangles on my right arm.  She sees me when I venture into the rest of the house.

Blue moon tonight (actually this morning, but close enough).  Won’t be another for 2 1/2 years, and they will be back to back.  It’s a rare occurrence when January has a blue moon, February has no full moon, and March has a blue moon.  Talk about a rarity.

Got approved for the card again.  I’m good through February.  Money is not as good as I thought, a vacuum has surfaced and scarfed most of my reserve.  I’m going to have to go out and start digging again before I can start medical treatment again.

Tomorrow begins the August stretch of summer, the sprint through the heat.  I’ve got my cool air, I can make it.  One thing about the girdle, I can not tolerate the heat like I used to.  Everything pressed upwards and a retention of heat makes for a strange intolerance that quickly drains endurance.  It’s hard to sustain any effort.  So August won’t be peppy, but hopefully I can get some work done.

I’m melting!

It’s been five days since I’ve seen air conditioning outside of a store, and I’m getting tired of it.  Sleeping is the big issue.  Grabbing more than three hours of shuteye at a time is impossible, and the toxic headaches are a real pain.  And the girdle for the hernia is a heat trap during the heat of the day.  I survive on 20 pounds of ice a day.  I am getting tired of waiting for an air conditioner as the temperature rises to 100°F.

The party was fun.  There was 18 hours of live music with 14 bands.  Lots of good food, though the pits were hogged by the pit crew, and I didn’t get to cook my bacon wrapped chicken breasts.  The band did well, despite issues that only the band saw.  Lots of complements.  Lots of catching up with old friends.  It was a good one.

Use of a displacement map to create a screw head in modo.  (The party is today.)

Eric and Alicia are back from Hawaii.  A fair bit happened in the meantime, but nothing that was that worth noting.  Fun with the paws and daily life stuff, the days passing along.  A lot of this and that.

One thing of note is that I recorded eight requested rehearsal tracks for Doug and Ellen.  They had better not go public.  They’re not horrible, but they aren’t good either.

But yesterday evening while watching a recorded pay per view of the Grateful Dead reunion, I saw them using iPads mounted on holders fixed to the mike stands.  “I have got to get one of those.”  I ran a quick search, went over The Guitar Center and bought one, along with a mike stand.  (Buying a mike stand felt funny after having owned 12 of them.)  I am no longer thinking about buying a music stand.  Two and a half days until I get to show it off.

In Austin, Eric and Alicia off to Hawaii.  Just me and 20 paws now.  Went to Evangeline’s yesterday for dinner and had the Hank Williams special (jambalaya, crawfish pie, gumbo), quite yummy.  But now the packing flurry here is done.  The kitchen is stocked.  Lots of time to burn and lots of pets to give.  I’m in no hurry to do anything right now.
