Archive for August, 2015

Found this set, not for the first time, but for the first time in the original quadded mesh.  Every other time I found them, they were all triangulated, Max related, third generation modified at best.  The bad news is that it was a single OBJ, which means manually extracting the chairs individually to a new mesh.  I plan on making a sliced and dice group original which can serve up any combination of individual chair, like with the bird chair solo.

In the great blues and zydeko tradition:

Decanters in modo. (Back in the upper 90’s today.)

Poor Magician

I found this at 3Dsky in the sculpture section.  I love the dog to no end.  Gave it a jade (-ish) shader in modo that best showed off the mesh.

After a 60 day absence, there was a gully washer followed by more rain, totaling about 2.5 inches.  We needed it, as when it stopped raining, it stopped cold turkey.  So the wet day, courtesy of the Gulf and a cool front to override, was a blessing.  Tomorrow returns to August.

Radiator is in the back of the truck.  It still needs to get in the front of the truck.  Been a number of hitches.  Today was the rain.

Life has been a little slow, but that is typical for August.  I did get to roast a batch of pork chops today, the cool weather permitting use of the oven.  I wish I had had other things thawed out, but alas.  There’s still plenty in the freezer to thaw and eat.  I’m not going to starve any time soon.

Coconut cream pie in the fridge.  It will hold me over until BlueBell returns to the shelves at the first of the month.  They are shipping it in from Alabama, as the local creamery isn’t ready for production yet.  But they are starting with the original market first.  I am expecting riots until everyone gets their fix.

Glass jars

I was working on a project with glass that got cancelled, so I fond new glass to raise my spirits.

It’s supposed to hit 105°F today, making it the hottest day of the year here so far.  Frying eggs on the sidewalk weather.

A/C still chugging away nominally.  I am grateful for that.

Still remaining outside ISS chat, lurking when I’m there to watch. The longer I’m quiet, the less I want to join in.

No rain in Texas

Posted on Monday, August 10th, 2015 at 2:57 am

The radar belies the fact that Texas is drying out.  Dew points are still in the high 70’s despite clear skies across the state, and daily highs are steadily in three digits.  Even the wifi signal is getting funky because of the heat.  I will be glad when the bulk of my existence is larger than a single air conditioned room again.  I look forward to cooking again.

I may have left the ISS chat on UStream.  There was a weird incident that tipped the scales for me.  The troublemakers and the idiots have been something to tolerate because the plus side was worth it.  But that changed when some of the plus side got weird on me.  It’s not all the group, but enough.  There are still many people there whose company that I enjoy.  Time will tell if I feel that it’s worth it to continue.

I may be balking on the radiator.  It’s just too hot to be yanking a radiator loose.  I am hoping that it will hold until the weather cools.

Got a new tire for the truck, a little more expensive than expected, but the headache of the slow leak is gone from my life.  Well, at least in the tire.  The radiator is the next leak to fix, and it leaks primarily when sitting still.  It was interesting sitting in the waiting room with the iPad.

A week and a day into air conditioning, and it’s getting hotter outside.  Into the 100’s every day this coming week, so it’s a blessing to be able to stay cool without 20 pounds of ice and a battalion of fans.

A check is in the mail, so I’ll survive the unexpected expenses.

Not a lot going on during the day, just passing time while the heat plays.
