Long Lost Sandwich

Posted on Monday, February 26th, 2018 at 4:25 am

It has been years since I had a bacon/avocado/alfalfa sprout sandwich, at least until a few hours ago.  I like the aluminum pans from the pound cakes as a sprouting vessel.  It makes enough for two sandwiches or a large salad.  And I can stage them days apart, so that I have them fresh at proper intervals.  And a half an ounce of seeds goes a long ways.  I just have to remember not to buy an avocado until the day of the harvest.

Looks like I’m heading back to work later today, slideshow video.  This should be the final segment for the CD release.  Well, maybe a jukebox/playlist on the website, but that isn’t real soon and not release related.

Had a cool day yesterday, but it’s warming up again.  I’ve been out of layers for better than two weeks, and I love it.  Spring is here.

Going over the basics in the most recent version of modo.

The DVD of Duck arrived yesterday.  I have been wanting a copy for years, and I finally have one.  The cover had a cosmetic dent (1/2″) in it, but it was still in the original wrapper, so I got it at a price that was right for my budget.  Enjoying it immensely.

Spring rain

It’s the first day of the year in my memory that the glasses (containing an iced beverage) are sweating.  Mid 70s, light rain for much of the afternoon.  Feels good to be out of layers.

Still dealing with a number of small details on Vince’s site.  Added a video, that I converted from DVD and edited, converted from a copied VHS cassette, shot on a home video tape camera in 1994.  Interesting.

I don’t think that there is much else going on at the moment.  Still winding down.  Played a little music with Julie today.

Freewheeling Fringy

Posted on Sunday, February 18th, 2018 at 5:16 am

The freewheeling gears are still spinning.  Vince’s site is completed and launched, but the brain is still cranking.  The weeks spent on it, not to mention the months of original learning curve in 2017, has given me a whole new perspective on HTML.  And I will say that the $99 spent on was well worth it.

T-bone is on sale for $4/lb, and I’m ignoring it.  I need the freezer space for chicken, which is running out.  Besides, I still have plenty of rib eye and sirloin.

Weather is warming up into the 70s, more days than not.  Another early spring.  Summer birds are returning.  Trees are budding and blooming.  Nice to be able to open up the house and wear nothing on the sleeves.

Still busy

Still working on Vince’s site.  I’m hoping that the last of the brain benders are behind me, but I’m not counting chickens yet.  So far, everyone is happy with the results.

Not much else going on.  Food has been supportive of work.  The mashed baked potatoes turned out quite tasty.  It will be several days yet before another thaw.

Looking to make music school this week.  It will be in the 70s on Wednesday.

Got to within a hair of freezing last night.  Found a way to keep Myka out of the oats when I need to bring them inside, using a hanging wire basket.  She does love them, she spent quite some time eyeing them last night, trying to figure out a way to reach them.

mixed busy

Back on Vince’s site today.  Looking at two or three more days.  Today was mostly the big picture, creating new pages, placing widgets, etc, but also a few details, and more expected tonight.

Went to Bryan yesterday for a follow-up with the ophthalmologist.  My vision, especially in my left eye has improved markedly.  The incision has healed quite well, nothing but a pretty report.  No more appointments for a year.  All the rest of the medical appointments will be local.

Was busy in the kitchen today.  Chicken/broccoli/rice was lunch.  I wanted to clean out the kitchen this morning before I took the garbage to the curb, so I was busy.  Tenderized and marinated sirloin just came out of the broiler.  (Yum.  I am getting addicted to this.)  And I just cooked up a batch of spuds for mashed potatoes, which I haven’t made in ages.  They will go well with the sirloin.
