Sirloin

Posted on Friday, August 24th, 2018 at 12:55 am

Two halves of an inch thick sirloin is tenderized and sitting in the fridge marinating.  Photo-op to follow.

.

Upped the dose on the irbesartan to 300 mg/day.  A little dingy, but manageable.  Able to drive, no problems.  I think I can maintain it.

.

Today was not triple digits, after a week of them.  It only got to 98°F.  I slept through most of the heat.  Hanging close to the nest.

.

Washington is getting interesting.  I’m enjoying it.

Sirloin, tenderized, marinated.  Yummy tacos.

A post of few words.

99°F

Posted on Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at 5:04 am

We’ve been having a string of days with highs at 99°F, with a couple more due this weekend.  Needless to say, I’m not hanging out outside much during the afternoon.  In fact, I’m pulling graveyard shift, sleeping mostly during daylight.

.

It started Thursday, the day after I went to Music School, debuting Egee and my chompers.  Got back about 2 am, stayed up a while, then sawed logs until late in the afternoon.

.

Music School was fun.  There were ample leaders, so no one got worn out.  The Egee did well, and I discovered that it has the same body as Doug’s Takamine G Series Bass. (Well, he has the two piece back, Egee is a three piece.)  But from the audience, it’s the same body with a different neck, bridge, and guard.  Both have the same jumbo body in honey burst.

.

I also sacrificed my 20 month old open bottle of Patron Anejo, my getting the first shot.  It was a good way to celebrate being permitted to drink lightly again (hypertension med change).  The bottle didn’t last long.  It was a pretty rowdy night.  But we had fun.  My pipes were in good shape.  It was a good night of music. The ears and spirits were well treated.

.

But since I’ve been back, it’s been a snail’s pace.  Not in a hurry for anything.  Myka has taken to the air conditioning, and I’m her doorman.  (In and out and in and out…)  6 am store runs.  Avoiding the heat as much as possible.

.

Thawing out a T-bone.  First steak in almost two months.  Part was dental, but part is the kitchen heat.  More to be thawed in the weeks ahead.  I have a freezer to empty as much as possible by the end of September.

More Summer

Posted on Tuesday, August 14th, 2018 at 12:31 pm

August remains fairly mild, mid-90s, high humidity, symptoms of a typical Gulf coast summer.  A little rain here and there, not excessive, but enough to keep things green.  Staying in the A/C most of the time.

.

Still waiting for the sore on my gums to heal.  It’s almost there, but not quite.  Not suffering, but not gluing in the lower plate yet.  Spending most of the time without them, which suits me fine at this point.

.

The headphones are working fine.  I’m familiar enough to use them properly, powering up and down as needed.  They charge with the same charger as the phone uses.  All in all, what I wanted.

.

I will probably make Music School tomorrow.  Was at Julie’s yesterday, playing the Egee.  Voice has been neglected the last month while healing.  But I’ll blow out the pipes soon enough.

Creed

Defense attorney creed:

.

When the facts are against you, argue the law.

When the law is against you, argue the facts.

When both the law and facts are against you, wave your arms and yell that the entire case is a set up!

.

/For those who are not attorneys or know any personally/

.

The original creed has the third line reading:

When both the law and facts are against you, plead guilty.

.

Hence, the logic is that if you see a lawyer denying the validity of a trial or investigation, guilt can pretty much be assumed.

Ordered a set of quality Bluetooth headphones at a great price from Amazon yesterday.  This will allow me to go cordless on the laptop which has blown its internal speaker circuity.  They are due to arrive tomorrow.

Unleashed

No medical appointments until February.  After over a year of slice and dice and prick and prod, I have finally exited the experience of doctors and dentists for the next six months.  Knock on wood.  Woohooo!

.

Granted, everything I’ve been through began as an elective treatment, something I chose to do.  And at this point, I have finally reached the point where it was all worth it.  I have everything the way I want, I have the medications I want.  I’m in pretty good shape, over all.  Not saying that I have the body that I had when I was 18.  But I’m not complaining.

.

Now I can relax, nothing on the schedule, live life as I see fit.  No more counting off the hours, getting prepped, being there on time.  And no more surgery, no more healing, no more special care in the things I do.  I can just be me again, as I please, full time.

.

Roasted the bag of chicken quarters last night, restocking the freezer.  There was room for it, but once again, there is not a lot of room to spare.  Oh well, I need to work on it as I learn to eat again.  As soon as the sore in my mouth from chomping down on a wayward cashew heals, I will be thawing steaks and ribs and loin and relearning to eat.

.

I need to go stock up on fresh veggies.  And I need to get bagged peas and beans, but not until it cools down a little.  Small pots and pans rule until the weather cools.

Shopping

Got my complete denture maintenance kit together in a plastic container.  Cleaning, adhesive, padding, pain.  All there in one place, clean, travel friendly.

.

I also got more honey roasted cashews.  And a bag of chicken, more alfredo mix, some cheese risotto mix, and some replacements for things I’ve wiped out.  A moderate shopping spree.

.

Today was payday.  Nice to see a balance left after the smoke has cleared.

.

Things are slow after the burn session.  Plenty more catching up to do, but a little rest and concentrating on day to day stuff is useful too.  Won’t be going to Bryan yet, so Music School is not on my schedule this week.  But that’s okay.  Not quite ready for it.  And I haven’t learned to sing yet with the dentures in my mouth.  Playing a little music here and there, but it’s not a primary focus at this point in time.

.

Myka is thoroughly enjoying the box for the laptop battery shipping.
