Turning the final corner

Posted on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 at 11:39 am

I’ve turned a lot of corners in the last three weeks, since I was split open for repairs.  And I think I’ve turned the final one.  My digestive tract is back to functioning properly.  I can bend over and touch the floor.  I can sleep on my right side without discomfort, indicating that the intestines are reattached sufficiently.  I can sit at the office desk for periods of time to work.  I walked to the back fence today with only Pup as company.  I feel as if I can  drive now, now that I’ve been allowed to drop one of the blood pressure meds.

.

I still have a few things to achieve, such as cooking a meal from scratch.  (Leftovers and other things in the freezer allow me time for that.)  I still need to get full volume for my voice for multiple songs while playing.  (Haven’t tried that yet, just out of caution.)  Still haven’t run or lifted heavy items.  (I’m not stupid.)  I’ll get there in due time, which is at least another three weeks away.  In other words, this is the half-way point in my recovery.

.

My blood pressure is a little high since the med adjustment.  I still have an intermittent low grade fever (<99.4°F).  And I still enjoy spending time resting, as I tire fairly easily by normal standards.  I still have some healing to do, but it’s simply to reinforce what healing that I have already achieved, healing for the rest of my life.  But I am getting around, doing things that we take for granted, and generally feeling better.  There are no more major improvements to achieve, just getting better at the ones I have achieved.

.

It’s all downhill from here……

Now to help Helen get through her ordeals to come.
