Catch up mode

Spent yesterday dabbling at catch up chores, like laundry, dishes, filling the ice bin, prepping the trash, arranging the freezer to handle the pork loin I got, etc. I wasn’t going breakneck, but I got most everything done.

The truck battery has died. It won’t hold a charge for 24 hours. Fortunately I had the new battery in the cab and the new jumper cables I got a couple of weeks ago, and I gave myself a jump. Come morning, the battery swap is made. There another battery available to act as backup.

The fridge is fairly well stocked, in the process of getting the freezer ready. Rib eye, fajita chicken, cajun rib, beef brats, plenty of cheese, and a 9.5 lb pork loin that needs to be marinated tonight and cooked tomorrow night. One section of that will remain in the fridge. Almost finished the tub of strawberry puree. Thawing a pound of cocktail shrimp. The tails need to go in the trash for today’s pickup. So does the pork loin package. Too warm to let them sit and age.

There is a heat advisory tomorrow. Heat and humidity will put the heat index up at 115°F in places. Here they estimate 108°F. I’ll be in the AC trying to sleep.

Feels good to have my time as my own again. Nothing like being off the clock, even when there are chores to be done. I only have to watch the clock for my meds, and the timer on the laptop reminds me of that. Tom and Jill had a good time, so it was worth it. But it feels good to be able to play it by ear again.
