Groanin’ n’ Mona

Summer in April in Texas. A string of days in the 90’s. No wildfires here, nor would I assume any at this location as of yet. It’s too close to the river and too mowed by hay bailers.
But I’m still dealing with fever, 7 1/2 weeks and counting. In short, I lost my entire spring to forced idleness. It would have been great as a vacation, but to being sick, it sucks. I manage ten, fifteen minutes of labor here and there when I’m close to normal, but it never lasts long enough to get much done.
New puppy on the premise, about 5 to 6 months old. Part German Shepard (markings), part hound (not sure which kind), and part mutt mix. She got the name Mona for her vociferous demeanor. The other two dogs cornered her a couple of weeks ago in the garage, and they have started warming to her, though not as warm as what Mona offers them. (“Please! Show some dignity! PLEASE! Grrrr.”) Her full name – Her Royal Knuckless, Miss Mona Lott. At least she learns quickly enough, though chewing is a bit of a given that will persist at some level until she loses her puppy teeth, even with plenty of toys. Odds are, from the looks of her paws, she will be the largest of the knuckle-heads within a year.
